Robotics History

The first ever plan of a robot in the whole of robotics history was sketched by Leonardo Da Vinci. Here is a brief description of how the science of Robotics evolved.

A few quick notes:

· This interesting invention that has revolutionized the industrial workspace has an interesting journey behind it.

· The father of robotics, who is George Charles Devol, was the first one to invent the Unimate in the year 1954. The Unimate was then installed for die casting handling and spot welding in the year 1961 by General Motors.

· This model underwent a lot of modifications and variations all the way through to the 70’s.

· The next breakthrough invention was that of Rancho Arm, in the year 1963. This was used to assist the handicapped.

· In the year 1969, the Stanford Arm commercialized Arm production and the Silver Arm followed this in the year 1974.

· Robots have till today been used in all manufacturing industries for various purposes, but they largely include:

· *Changing the product accuracy- Robots perform required tasks in a way more specific way and with high precision.

· *Change in work environment- A lot of manual work was cut down on.
